The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord.
Reverence: a profound, adoring, and awed respect.
Worship: an extravagant respect or admiration for, or devotion to an object of esteem. (M-W Dictionary).
This is the kind of fear the bible talks about.
An acknowledged reverence for Who He is brings us refuge and life. How awesome is that?
The verse that stood out to me is vs. 30. Mostly because it used the word "passion." I checked the AMP, and it put it like this, "A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.
I've always thought of passion as a good thing, but here we see that passion is terribly destructive as a negative. Envy, jealousy and wrath have such a strong inflaming and corrupting drive to them! There's no doubt about that.
It amazes me at times how accurate the bible is. It shouldn't, but it does. It's just an incredible book!!
